Read This Before You Write
For questions about your specific claim — your particular rating, your specific denial, your individual appeal — the most useful step is to contact a free VSO first. VSOs have direct access to your VA file, can submit documents on your behalf, and have legal standing to formally represent you. We are not able to do any of that. We can explain how the system works, but a VSO can actually work the system for you.
What We Can Help With
General questions about how the claims process works. Help understanding what a rating decision means. Guidance on which appeal lane fits a situation. Questions about what a specific form is for. Pointing you toward the right VSO or resource for your specific need. Questions about content accuracy or updates.
Content Corrections
VA compensation rates change annually. Forms get renumbered. Regulations are amended. If you catch something that is out of date or factually wrong, please tell us — include the page name and the specific issue. We take corrections seriously and update promptly. Veterans who rely on this site deserve accurate information.
Share Your Story
If you navigated the VA system and reached a favorable outcome — or if you are still in the process and want to share what you have learned — we want to hear from you. The experiences of veterans who have been through this process are what make guides like these accurate. Your story matters and may help the next veteran who is where you once were.
